Sewing Through July

What a fun month for BittyBopShop! July began with sewing up two Savannahs. One was a Paris themed print with green and white polka-dot and the other a corn cob print with pink and white polka-dot. Bitty did inherit one due to an error but the other is available in the Ready to Wear section.

I was so happy to collaborate with a friend and sew up this Sweet Tea Skirt for her ‘sweet’ daughter in lumberjack theme. They moved to Maine where the days are warm but the nights are still chilly (can you imagine in July-while we are sweating out the days and nights here?!?). Every one of her pictures have been displaying delicious fresh food or full of beautiful scenery. It looks so fresh and clean. I told her the air actually look pure in her pictures for lack of clearer/better words. They are adventurers and hikers so the skirt came out just right with boy scout print and flannel underskirt and warm flannel pockets!

Next, I put together Bit’s dress for our pictures this weekend. I worked with a sew-a-long this month to keep on track and knock it out. The colors really pop and will blend perfect for the botanical garden site.

I also attempted a dress for myself with the blue fabric but found that a $6 pattern (company shall remain nameless)  is just that, and there is a lot fine tuning in fitted adult garments that were not included in the pattern. I looked like a big blue paper sack with boxy nurse scrub sleeves. I took it all apart and tried altering with no luck. Oh well, it was a good teaching moment haha!

Last was the Reversible Pearl for my MIL’s coworker. She wanted a dress for her daughter’s first day of school.  I love how it came out with the lace trim. The bird fabric is a gorgeous pale mauve and the flowers on the reverse are so bold and brilliant. This dress will be able to be worn all year round and has the perfect amount of simple sweet with the flutter sleeves and button back. Of course pockets in coordinating pink and white were placed for little necessities.

The Reversible Pearl and Sweet Tea Skirt are available in my made to order section. These are great for back to school or anytime during the year with layering.

All patterns (excluding the unnamed adult) are from Violette Field Threads. If you are a sewer check them out for timeless girl pieces. If not, contact me and we can create something perfect for your pretty girl!
