Bitty goes with her dad and brother to the zoo when I’m working, so naturally she needed a zoo themed dress for those days. I picked the Eric Carle inspired fabric from Michael Miller and went to work. I love when you can see the dress in your mind before you sew and it comes together just like you envisioned. Trust me, it doesn’t always work out that way. I have a few duds in the pile to vouch for that. But, this dress worked! The curves were a little challenging but the end result was the perfect zoo dress and Bit was thrilled. Pockets were of course added for her little necessities she must carry with her at all times. Don’t mind her modeling it with her gray and pink swan socks (when you have a three year old fashionista you have to barter a little to get happy pictures). Oh, how I love this dress! I find the back to be just as beautiful as the front. When she’s done wearing it as a dress, it will easily move into a sweet tunic with a matching pair of shorts. I definitely see this staying in her closet for 2 to 3 years thanks to the elastic in back and adjustable straps. Another diamond from Violet Field Threads. You can find a Savannah in my shop under “Ready to Wear,” and yes, it has pockets! And, as always feel free to contact me in the About section under the Menu at the top of this page.
