While my machines where getting serviced I spent some time picking patterns and cutting fabric. As I was digging in my bins, I found this snowflake fabric that I had been holding on to for years (like ‘before any of my children were born’ kind of years). It’s festive, fun and a little whimsical and this was the year it would become magic!
I kept calling it the “Santa Dress” because once it was finished we would go see the big guy. I put the last stitches in listening to the the weather guy talk about the “snow” coming the following afternoon and rolling my eyes. Around here snow is more miss than hit when they begin their predictions, and milk and bread fly off the shelf often for little more than a cold rain.
But, surprise!!!! As the first snow flakes fell, Bitty and I got excited! She grabbed the shoes and I grabbed the dress and we ran out the door for some quick pictures! For the first year snow was magical! Her eyes twinkled with glee. Truly a beautiful moment to see your child’s soul sparkle.
From the bows to the silver buttons to the little built in apron over the frilly skirt, this dress screams vintage. Bitty absolutely loves it! It is so full, no twirl test needed.
We laughed about the snow coming as soon as the dress was finished, and how it must have “super powers” (we are big into that) to bring on the snow. So, we changed the name from Santa Dress to the Snowflake Dance dress and she couldn’t be happier!
