The first time I tried the Pearl pattern from Violette Field Threads, I was hooked. They have sew-a-longs about every month where you take a week and sew the same pattern with other sewists on the site and at the end of the week a winner is randomly selected. What is so neat about sew-a-longs are all the different perspectives with fabric, notions and pattern combinations. No two were alike. I loved the end result of mine and Bitty did too! She could not wait to put that dress on and she beamed with happiness. That is why I chose it to be the cover photo for my shop. Looking at those pictures this week, made me decide to revisit the Pearl pattern and try it as a reversible dress. I wanted two totally different looks. So, I picked a carefree hot air balloon pattern for days when Bit’s feeling playful and a beautiful, in your face floral pattern for when she wakes up a little more sassy-serious (even at 3, we have our big girl serious days). What I absolutely love about this dress is that it isn’t only good for summer. Layered over a long sleeved tee and some leggings or jeans, this piece can easily go into fall and jump back into spring again next year. Bitty seems to have inherited my vertically challenged genes so I expect her to be able to wear this multiple ways for a couple years before totally retiring it.
